Are you ready to make a significant impact as a Director (f/m/d) of Operations ? Join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a world-class manufacturing company, as we strive to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to oversee the overall operations responsibility for our Regensburg, Geneart site in Germany. This includes responsibility for the functions of Operations, Manufacturing Sciences, Health Safety & Environment, Facilities, Quality, Planning, Procurement, PPI (Practical Process Improvement). The Director will work very closely with various businesses to support their strategic business initiatives.
A Day in the Life
1. Effectively manage production to meet and exceed targeted goals for labor, material, and overhead costs
2. Develop and lead an operational strategy aligned with company and business goals
3. Plan and direct operational activities to achieve shorter-term business targets in quality, delivery, and cost
4. Create a long-term vision and plan, communicating it effectively to ensure staff alignment
5. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, championing the implementation of PPI (Practical Process Improvement)
6. Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies
7. Actively manage internal and external communications, promoting transparency and collaboration
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to drive operational efficiency
9. Provide strong leadership, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment
10. Communicate site performance to relevant individuals within the company
11. Ensure site health, safety, regulatory, and environmental compliance
Keys to Success
12. Master's degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience (MBA preferred)
13. 7+ years of progressive manufacturing operations management experience, including supply chain, production, and logistics
14. Demonstrated results with direct and indirect reporting relationships in a matrixed environment
15. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
16. Experience working in global and matrix organizations
17. Strong leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
18. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop successful teams
19. Collaborative skills to work alongside and effectively influence important individuals
20. Ability to work independently on multiple complex projects
21. Practical experience in continuous improvement leadership/methodologies to drive productivity
22. Lean and/or Six-Sigma experience is valuable
23. Understanding of Molecular Biology is preferable
24. Experience within a cGMP environment is valuable
25. Proficiency in German language is a preference
