Blackfield Associates are currently partnered with a large engineering service provider to support their search for a Black Utilities Work Package Owner to join their pharmaceutical clients project based in the Rhineland-Palatinate region on an initial 12-month contract.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of black utilities work packages, including systems such as steam, compressed air, chilled water, and HVAC.
* Interface with engineering, construction, commissioning, and client teams to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and quality.
* Oversee contractor performance and ensure adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Manage technical documentation, including design reviews, installation verification, and turnover packages.
* Support commissioning and qualification activities, ensuring readiness of black utility systems for operational handover.
* Track progress, manage risks, and report on key milestones and deliverables.
* Ensure integration of black utilities with other disciplines and systems across the facility.
Required Experience & Skills
* Sufficient years of experience working on black utilities within pharmaceutical or biotech construction projects.
* Strong understanding of GMP environments and regulatory compliance.
* Proven experience managing work packages in large-scale capital projects.
* Familiarity with commissioning and qualification processes (IQ/OQ/PQ).
* Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification preferred.
* Experience working with multinational teams and EPCM contractors is a plus.
