Its integrated team of green building specialists administers credentials and certifications for the U.S. Green Building Council (LEED), the International WELL Building Institute (WELL Building Standard), International Finance Corporation (EDGE), PEER, Sustainable SITES, TRUE Zero Waste, and IREE.Our team seeks a Director, Client Solutions to lead business development and technical sales for LEED commercial building products, with a focus on the European market. Responsibilities include engaging with new and existing customers, delivering targeted education on LEED, and collaborating with regional teams to drive project registration and certification. The role involves tracking customer interactions, communicating technical requirements, and providing market intelligence. The individual also contributes to product development and education, represents USGBC/GBCI at industry events, addresses customer technical issues, and supports strategic planning and budgeting. Collaboration across departments ensures products align with customer needs, while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.The candidate must be currently based in Munich, Germany or nearby a major transit hub within Europe (EU member states only).Specific ResponsibilitiesSupport business development and outreach efforts for LEED commercial building products and European market sector through proactive technical sales with new and existing customersIntroduce and present solutions to project teams through product overviews and targeted education with a strong understanding of LEED and its application in the marketplaceCollaborate with regional Market Transformation & Development leads on engagements with the organization’s stakeholder base around core programs and cultivate technical business opportunities through project registration and successful certificationTrack and report business function interactions with customers during onboarding, closing, and contracting at appropriate points in the sales cycleEducate the marketplace by effectively communicating technical requirements through written, verbal, and in-person meetings or workshops with LEED customersAct as a resource for the organization by providing European market intelligence and identifying drivers for customer decisions. Be a subject matter expert in the market through peer articles, industry conference presentations, and technical content reviews of LEED resources developed by GBCI/USGBCCollaborate with other departments and program managers to determine how products and services could be made or modified to suit customers' needsWorking with the Standards Development and Product Management teams, help develop educational content in support of new program roll-outs and/or technical product updates and facilitate internal staff learnings and trainingsMeet with and regularly present USGBC’s and GBCI’s portfolio of commercial building products, including updates and new product launches to customersAct as focal point for technical issues and accountability to customers. Shepard activities and inquiries through the proper channels within the organizationParticipate, and lead when appropriate, USGBC’s and GBCI’s trade shows and customer events where integrated building solutions are a key element or value propositionWork closely with marketing and business functions to develop effective sales tools in response to customer needs and market feedbackSupport budget development and ongoing reconciliation of expenses incurred against the team budgetProvide input into strategic decisions that affect the team’s functional area of responsibility and operations throughout the organizationMaintain respect and goodwill of GBCI customers while reaching a resolution that works for allEducation & Experience RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Building Operations, or Environmental Science Required8-10 years’ experience in green building and sustainable design5-7 years’ experience directly working on a variety of high-performance building projects, including LEED projects5-7 years’ experience in customer relations and supportLEED AP with specialtyFluency in English and preferably one other European languageOther Preferred RequirementsMaster’s Degree in relevant field3-5 years’ experience in project and/or team managementPassion and commitment to green building marketplace transformation by encouraging and accelerating global adoption of green business practices through various sustainability standards, tools and performance criteriaExcellent communication skills (writing, speaking, and presenting)Self-starter, detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritizeDemonstrated ability to responsibly manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to think systematically and plan, excellent with meeting deadlinesDetailsFull-Time, permanent, salaried position; contract employment consideredLocation: Munich, Germany or remote in Europe (EU member states only)Residency near a major European airport or within Germany preferredHours: 40 hours per week, including occasional eveningsAvailability to occasionally work outside typical work hours, during evenings and weekendsTravel: 15-25% estimated annual travel.
