We are seeking to fill the following position in Department 5 as soon as possible: Head of IT Services (m/f/d) Department 5 consists of three divisions: Digital Transformation, Data Center and IT Infrastructure, and IT Services. The department handles central IT topics such as process and project management, electronic records management, servers/storage, networking, media technology, and unified communications. Division 5.3 IT Services focuses in particular on user-related issues and works closely with the Data Center and IT Infrastructure division. We are looking for candidates who will tackle the diverse tasks and extraordinary challenges at a university with great commitment and motivation, and who can maintain a clear overview even in stressful situations. Your Responsibilities: You will enthusiastically take on the technical leadership of the IT Services department and effectively lead a motivated team as an equal partner. You are characterized by an appreciative leadership style, a hands-on mentality, strong communication skills, and a commitment to the professional development of your employees. You will oversee and be responsible for day-to-day operations as well as strategic planning, and interact confidently and cooperatively with various internal and external stakeholders. You will manage and optimize user and application support, endpoint management, IT documentation, PKI, printers, identity management, and IT contract management. Furthermore, you are responsible for the creation and further development of technical concepts in the field of data processing. Collaboration with the Digital Transformation, Data Center, and IT Infrastructure departments, as well as with the university’s other internal stakeholders, is second nature to you. Our Requirements: You hold a bachelor’s degree or a university of applied sciences diploma in computer science, business informatics, or a related field suitable for this role—or an equivalent qualification—as well as at least three years of professional experience in one of the following areas: management or organization of IT support, operation of device management, or operation of an IDM system. In addition, you have initial professional leadership experience in managing IT teams. If you have exclusively project management experience, we would also be pleased to receive your application. You possess in-depth knowledge of common IT infrastructure systems (e.g., servers, storage, networks, databases, relevant software products) as well as experience in project management. Advanced knowledge in IT management, such as ITIL certification, is a plus. You present yourself with confidence and professionalism and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. You think analytically and strategically, act in a results-oriented manner, and demonstrate a high degree of initiative. In addition, you stand out for your strong service orientation. Excellent written and spoken German skills (C2 level) round out your profile. General Information About the Position: The place of employment is Lippstadt. Regular presence at the Hamm location is required. The university has policies in place regarding remote work. This permanent full-time position is to be filled as soon as possible. Salary classification will be determined based on the scope of responsibilities and fulfillment of personal requirements, up to Pay Grade 13 under the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Public Service of the German States (TV-L).
