We are inviting applications for the position of full professor in the area of
translational analysis in neuroimaging, to be filled as soon as possible.
This is a joint appointment with Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) under
the Jülich model. At FZJ, the professorship includes responsibility for the
position of a teamleader digital translational neuroimaging.
The position is aimed at internationally renowned scientists who are ac-
tively involved in research and whose work focuses on new diagnostic
procedures and the development and application of methods in the field
of artificial intelligence, particularly in relation to brain tumors. The position
involves heading the Nuclear Medicine Brain Diagnostics working group
at the INM of the FZJ in cooperation with the Department of Nuclear Me-
dicine at the University Hospital RWTH Aachen. The field of activity is
excellent research that strengthens the research priorities and networks
of Forschungszentrum Jülich and the Medical Faculty of RWTH Aachen
University, as well as complementing the expertise of the other institutes
at Forschungszentrum Jülich and the engineering and natural science
disciplines at RWTH Aachen University.
The willingness to engage in interdisciplinary and scientific cooperation
with national and international partners, the relevant institute areas at the
FZJ, the institutes of the Faculty of Medicine and the clinics of the RWTH
Aachen University Hospital is required, as is cooperation with the Helm-
holtz Institute of Biomedical Engineering and the engineering and natural
science disciplines of RWTH Aachen University. In addition, participation
in the research priorities of the faculty as well as in one or more of the
associated research networks (e.g. SFB TRR 219, SFB 1382, KFO 344,
KFO 5011, GRK 2375, GRK 2415, GRK 2610, PAK 961, CIOABCD, JARA,
IZKF AACHEN) is one of the requirements. With regard to the focus of
the INM, especially with regard to the programs of the POF (Program-
Oriented Funding), there is a special scientific potential in the cooperation
with the INM institute divisions in the following areas: molecular/PET ima-
ging including the development and evaluation of new radiotracers using
preclinical and clinical imaging (INM-2, INM-4, INM-5), the application
and further development of modern imaging-based Data analysis techni-
ques, including AI and "big data" evaluations (INM-1, INM-2, INM-4, INM-
7), as well as the elucidation of the molecular basis of function, dysfunc-
tion, variability and resilience of the brain (INM-1, INM-2, INM-3). Commit-
ted participation in the teaching of the courses of study of the Faculty of
Medicine or in the engineering and natural sciences courses of other fa-
culties in the amount of 2 SWS is also expected.
Requirements include a university degree, a doctoral degree, and addi-
tional research experience, for example, demonstrated through a habilita-
tion (post-doctoral lecturing qualification) or equivalent accomplishments
as a university researcher, junior professor, or in a research position at a
university, research institution, industry, administration, or other societal
setting. Furthermore, good teaching skills are expected. The application
should include the usual supporting documents: CV, certificates, list of
publications, teaching experience, brief summary of previous research
activities, including details of third-party funding, and a research proposal
for the position advertised.
