You can look forward to
* You will apply licensed mathematical and geophysical models to realistically assess the impact of natural catastrophes and other loss events, enabling well‑grounded risk analyses.
* Based on model results and loss data, you will determine the financial consequences of extreme events and evaluate risks that are difficult to insure.
* You will support the transfer of reinsurance risks to investors – for example through catastrophe bonds (Cat Bonds) or portfolio transfers.
* You will continuously improve our valuation logic and our methods for risk control.
* You will work closely with internal and external specialists in Investment, Underwriting and Risk to discuss model results, loss assumptions and parameters relevant to the capital markets.
You come equipped with
* A completed degree in Mathematics, Physics or another comparable scientific discipline.
* Several years of professional experience in natural catastrophe modelling, ideally within primary insurance or reinsurance, for example as a Mathematician or an Actuary with a focus on NatCat, or in a comparable quantitative role.
* Strong experience in applying common modelling standards and tools, especially using established models such as Verisk or comparable vendor models in the field of catastrophe modelling.
* Completed actuarial training with the German Actuarial Association (DAV).
* Programming experience, for example in R, Python or similar languages, as well as experience working with databases and SQL, is a nice to have but not required.
* Excellent communication skills in German and English: you communicate openly, clearly and with confidence.
* You remain calm, focused and composed in challenging situations.
* You proactively seek input to understand complex topics, and you address inconsistencies when you identify them.
* You distinguish clearly between essential facts and secondary information.
