We are looking for a talented and innovative Regional Commercial Lawyer to join our International Legal Counsel team, focusing on the North Europe region. “North Europe” comprises Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Nordic countries and UK and Ireland.
Preferably, based in Germany with a location that enables regular on-site work at Agilent’s Waldbronn facility.
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, medical device and/or life sciences industries is desired but not an absolute requirement.
The International Counsel reports to Vice President, Enterprise & International Legal.
The scope for this position includes:
-Accountable and responsible as the lead legal counsel to provide general legal advice and support to Agilent’s local Country Management Teams, its diverse business operations in the North Europe region
-Work in a collaborative and global environment. You will be expected to collaborate closely with other functions within the Agilent Legal group across the globe including with Commercial Contracts, Compliance, IP and Legal Operations
-Support our business units and administrative functions (eg. Facilities management, HR, Finance etc.) in North Europe to pro-actively anticipate and resolve problems or disputes and to protect Agilent assets, technology and management.
-Coordinate legal matters handled by outside counsel and manage legal expenses
-Key responsibilities include managing local entity's corporate matters, supporting legal compliance, drafting of documents, employment law advice and regulatory matters as well as competition law counseling and data protection advice.
-Collaborate closely with the Commercial Contracts Legal team for local law advice and legal localization activities relating to commercial contract negotiations
-Work with US and International colleagues in a variety of projects including participating in acquisition integration, setting-up and maintaining internal databases, legal training and improvements to document templates.
-Manage legal interactions with local government agencies including inquiries or audits/investigations.
-Assist in local legal interpretations of statutory compliance and product regulatory matters
-Managing litigation in North Europe and collaborating with Corporate Litigation for major litigation and legal disputes
-Create relationships with internal business clients and establishing yourself as a trusted advisor
Qualifications
1. Education: Fully qualified lawyer (Volljurist).
2. Civil Law qualified lawyer preferred
3. At least 10 years or more professional experience in the legal department of an enterprise or a law firm, advising companies
4. Fluent in German and English. Other language skills welcome
5. Demonstrated experience operating in a regional role for a multi-national corporation is an advantage
