Student assistant (m/f/d) in the field of laser functionalisation of thin films (aachen, de, 52074)

Aachen
Studentenjob
Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft
Assistant
Inserat online seit: 26 Juli
Beschreibung

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, we may not be developing swords to fight the dark side of the Force, but our developments often sound like science fiction. That's because we design technologies and processes for the future of digital production, packaging and scanner technology, and many other laser-based applications, such as 3D printing and laser fusion.

In the Thin Film Processing group, we develop processes for the laser functionalisation of thin films. We optimise material properties such as conductivity, adhesion and density using processes such as sintering, crystallisation and melting. One focus of our research is printed electronics, where we produce the layers ourselves using digital printing processes. We are currently also working on more environmentally friendly non-stick coatings.

If you would like to be part of an innovative team and are interested in helping to shape the technologies of tomorrow, then you've come to the right place! The position is based in Aachen – take the opportunity to contribute your ideas and work with us on groundbreaking solutions.

What you will do

* You will support our team in preparing and conducting experiments as part of your student assistant role
* In the chemistry laboratory, you will carefully prepare samples, working precisely and conscientiously
* Your tasks will include working with class 4 lasers, allowing you to gain valuable practical experience in the field of laser technology
* With the help of inkjet and aerosol jet printers, you will participate in the production of metallic nanoparticles
* When analysing samples, you will use methods such as light microscopy and spectroscopy and reliably document your results

What you bring to the table

* You are completing your studies in mechanical engineering, materials science, materials technology, electrical engineering, chemistry, physics or a comparable degree programme
* Technical issues spark your interest, and you enjoy working carefully, independently and in a structured manner
* You have already gained some practical experience in the laboratory or with experiments – if not, that's no problem
* Ideally, you have already gained some insight into working with laser technology or CNC machines
* You have already worked with Python or other data analysis software, or are motivated to acquire the relevant skills

What you can expect

👥 Team spirit: Creative and interdisciplinary working environment, highly motivated team of experts, flat hierarchies and informal culture.
🖥 Workplace: Excellent range of machines and equipment.
💪 Involvement: Independent project work and room for innovative ideas in applied research.
🧘 Work-life balance: Benefit from flexible working hours based on trust.
📈 Development opportunities: With us, you have the opportunity for individual development through a wide range of training opportunities.
➕ Advantages: Opportunity to benefit from exciting corporate benefits.
🚐 Getting here: Good transport connections, parking spaces directly in front of the institute, an e-charging station and a multi-storey car park.
🕶 Prospects: The opportunity to write your thesis.

Remuneration is based on the general works agreement on the employment of auxiliary staff.
The weekly working time is 9 to 16 hours and will be agreed individually at the interview.
The position is initially limited to 12 months, but we are looking for a longer-term position to accompany your studies.

We value and promote the diversity of our employees' skills and therefore welcome all applications - regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion, ideology, disability, sexual orientation and identity. Severely disabled people are given preference if they are equally suitable.

Our tasks are varied and adaptable - we work together with applicants with disabilities to find solutions that best promote their abilities. The same applies if they do not meet all the profile requirements due to a disability.
