The Technical Services department at Gigafactory Berlin's Building and Infrastructure team is seeking a skilled and motivated Building and Infrastructure Engineer. This role is responsible for the maintenance, optimization, and project execution of critical infrastructure systems across the factory. These include concrete structures, structural steel components, flooring systems, roofing, WHG areas, SHK systems, piping, plumbing, brownfield construction, and other technical building systems.
The Engineer will drive technical planning and continuous improvement of these systems, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The role requires close collaboration with supervisors, technicians, vendors, and cross-functional teams to maintain high standards and system reliability.
What You'll Do- Define and implement preventive maintenance plans and system inspections.
- Manage and optimize the performance of infrastructure systems including roofs, floors, concrete structures, coatings, plumbing, piping, and sanitary systems
- Read and interpret P&IDs, structural drawings, and technical documentation.
- Monitor performance and system condition through walkdowns, ticket analysis, and inspections.
- Evaluate conditions of civil structures including steel elements, floors, and roofs.
- Ensure systems meet EHS regulations and WHG/BImSchG legal requirements.
- Collaborate with construction, permitting, and waste management teams for compliance alignment.
- Coordinate vendor execution on-site including walkdowns, scoping, execution support, and quality checks.
- Support project planning and execution of brownfield and infrastructure upgrade projects.
- Keep asset documentation, permits, and inspection logs updated and audit-ready.
- Track key KPIs such as downtime, ticket aging, preventive compliance, and cost impact.
- Provide engineering input for shutdowns, improvement projects, and audits.
- Contribute to cross-functional alignment with Production, EHS, Facility Operations, and Maintenance.
What You'll Bring- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Infrastructure Engineering (Bachelor or Master).
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in an industrial, infrastructure, or construction environment.
- Strong technical understanding of building-related systems (flooring, roofing, coatings, concrete, SHK, WHG, piping).
- Experience reading and interpreting P&IDs, structural and technical drawings.
- Ability to assess and evaluate condition of civil and steel structures.
- Experience with preventive maintenance and compliance tasks.
- Solid knowledge of German construction and safety regulations (WHG, ArbStättV, DGUV).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and good command of Microsoft Office tools.
- Fluent in English; German proficiency (minimum B2 level) strongly preferred.
- Strong ownership mindset and structured working style.
- Hands-on approach and ability to balance office and field work in a fast-paced environment.
