The Director of Operations Finance & FP&A, PHD is responsible for leading an integrated finance function that combines financial planning, performance management, and manufacturing finance oversight across the PHD division.
This role ensures end-to-end financial visibility and performance tracking, acting as the key link between financial outcomes and operational drivers.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning, Forecasting & Reporting (FP&A Leadership):
2. Lead the divisional mid-term plan, annual budget, and forecasting processes
3. Coordinate and consolidate executive financial reporting for the division
4. Present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results to senior leadership (CEO, Divisional President)
5. Develop robust financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic decisions
6. Oversee P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow planning, ensuring alignment with group guidelines
7. Lead variance analysis and performance tracking, ensuring linkage between actuals and plans
8. Operations Finance & Manufacturing Performance:
9. Own financial oversight of 10 global manufacturing plants, ensuring transparency and accountability of plant performance
10. Lead and develop site controllers and Operations Finance team (Porto hub)
11. Monitor and challenge plant performance across key operational KPIs:
12. Yield and scrap performance / Mass Balance and material efficiency / Throughput and capacity utilization / Conversion costs and labor productivity
13. Ensure standard costing accuracy and variance analysis, translating insights into corrective actions
14. Evaluate site profitability and footprint optimization scenarios (expansion, downsizing, restructuring)
15. Drive fact-based resource allocation decisions across the manufacturing network
16. Business Partnering & Performance Improvement:
17. Act as a strategic business partner to: VP Finance / VP Operations / Site Managers
18. Co-develop, evaluate, and monitor operational improvement initiatives, including:
19. Yield improvement programs / Cost reduction and productivity initiatives / Capacity and throughput optimization
20. Ensure financial rigor in CAPEX projects, including ROI, IRR, and payback analysis
21. Translate operational initiatives into clear financial impact and tracking mechanisms
22. Working Capital & Cash Flow Management:
23. Oversee working capital performance across the division, including:
24. Inventory optimization / Production-related cash drivers
25. Ensure alignment between operational decisions and cash flow impact
26. Support initiatives to improve cash conversion and capital efficiency
27. Leadership and Team Development:
28. Lead, coach, and develop a global, multicultural finance team
29. Build strong capabilities in: Operations finance / Data analytics / Business partnering
30. Foster a performance-driven culture, aligned with company objectives
31. Ensure effective collaboration across regions and functions
Requirements of the role:
32. Bachelors in business administration or operational area or equivalent combination of education and experience, an MBA is preferred
33. Extensive education in controlling, accounting and business
34. Minimum 10+ years of experience in Finance, with strong exposure to FP&A and Operations Finance / Manufacturing Finance
35. Demonstrated success in financial modeling and analysis
36. Demonstrated experience in matrix organizations
37. Excellent skills in SAP, BW, MS-Office (mainly Excel and Power Point)
38. Fluent English skills mandatory plus a second foreign language desirable
