About the Role
We’re hiring multiple Senior Software Engineers across Personio.
This is an opportunity for experienced engineers who want to work on meaningful, high-impact problems across a range of product areas. Depending on your experience and interests, you could join teams working on:
1. Payroll & Fintech systems
2. Time & Attendance
3. Core HR platform
4. Workflow automation
5. Integrations & platform services
6. AI-powered product experiences
All of these areas are critical to our mission of building the People Operating System for Europe, used by thousands of organisations to manage their people, payroll, and processes.
What You’ll Do
7. Design, build, and scale backend or fullstack systems used by thousands of customers
8. Own features end-to-end, from problem definition through to production
9. Work on distributed systems where reliability, performance, and correctness matter
10. Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams
11. Contribute to architectural decisions and continuously improve our systems
12. Help shape engineering best practices and raise the bar across teams
What We’re Looking For
13. Strong experience as a Software Engineer in production environments
14. Solid backend skills (Java, Kotlin, or similar) and/or fullstack experience
15. Experience building scalable, reliable systems
16. Ability to navigate ambiguity and contribute to problem definition
17. A strong sense of ownership and accountability
18. Clear communication and collaboration skills
Nice to Have (depending on team)
19. Experience in payroll, fintech, or regulated domains
20. Exposure to distributed systems or event-driven architectures
21. Experience with cloud platforms ( AWS)
22. Interest or experience in AI-driven development workflows
