With the recent acquisition of Infinera, we’ve united two industry leaders to create an optical networking powerhouse—combining cutting-edge technology with proven leadership to redefine the future of connectivity.As an Optical Line System Architect in Nokia's Optical Networks Group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of DWDM communication systems. You will collaborate closely with Systems Engineering and Software Development teams to architect innovative optical hardware and software platforms that meet stringent product requirements. Your technical leadership will drive the design of DWDM line systems, focusing on the complex interplay of transmission characteristics and control systems. You will thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional environment, where your expertise will be leveraged to demonstrate cutting-edge transmission technologies to key clients. With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you'll engage with diverse, international colleagues who share your passion for pushing the boundaries of optical networking. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence and lead advancements in optical communications while fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture.How You Will Contribute And What You Will LearnLead the architecture and design of advanced DWDM optical communication systems, focusing on innovative hardware and software integration.Collaborate closely with Product Line Management to define and refine product requirements based on market needs.Analyze and optimize the transmission characteristics of fiber and line system elements, ensuring quality signal power and OSNR performance.Develop and validate distributed control systems for optical line systems with cross-functional SW development and testing teams.Create system design rules and performance models to enhance product reliability and efficiency.Engage with key customers to demonstrate cutting-edge optical transmission technologies and gather feedback.Mentor junior team members and promote a collaborative, cross-cultural team environment.Drive continuous improvement initiatives in DWDM system design and implementation processes.Key Skills And ExperiencePh.D. in Optics/Engineering or M.S. in Optics/Electrical Engineering + 5 years of experienceIn-depth knowledge of DWDM systems and transmission fiber effectsHands-on experience with coherent transponders, EDFAs, Raman amplifiers, and ROADMsProven ability to architect and validate distributed control systemsIt would be nice if you also had:Experience with advanced coherent modulation formats in long haul systemsFamiliarity with closed loop and open loop control systemsExceptional communication and presentation skillsAbility to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teamsAbout UsCome create the technology that helps the world act togetherNokia is committed to innovation and technology leadership across mobile, fixed and cloud networks.
