The finite nature of fossil fuels is increasingly forcing a rethink in energy policy. Intensive use of biogenic residues can replace fossil fuels. To drive this development forward, the European SEAFAIRER funding project is operating and optimizing a promising new vertical pyrolysis technology for converting biogenic residues into high-quality energy sources such as bio-coal, hydrogen-rich synthesis gases, and valuable bio-crude oils. The subject area of this thesis is the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of experiments at the VINTER250 demonstration pyrolysis plant as part of the SEAFAIRER project.
