About us
The newly funded Cluster of Excellence NaviSense for the Sensory Basis, Mechanisms, and Impacts of Animal Navigation is a collaborative, interdisciplinary research project hosted at the University of Oldenburg and involving national and international partner institutions. As a diverse and international team of scientists from biology, physics, chemistry, computer sciences and social sciences we study the senses and mechanisms used by animals to navigate, and how these mechanisms can inspire technology and impact society, ecology, and biodiversity. The Cluster of Excellence integrates a wide range of structures for supporting early career researchers, which are anchored in the NavNextGen Academy. For more information see .
Your tasks
The position involves conceptualising, coordinating and running programmes for national and international postdoctoral researchers and junior research group leaders (levels R2-R3 of the European framework for research careers) within the Cluster of Excellence, as well as supporting them in their career development.
The tasks include in particular:
* Day-to-day coordination of the NavNextGen Academy incl. strategic planning and development of content in collaboration with the scientific coordination for the doctoral programmes
* Designing, coordinating and organising workshops, events and networking meetings, incl. a leadership programme
* Designing, coordinating and implementing recruitment processes for junior research group leaders and providing them with support
* Compiling information on relevant career opportunities and options
* Designing and implementing quality assurance measures
* Planning the allocation of available funds
Your profile
Required qualifications:
* University degree (master’s degree, diploma (university)), a PhD is desirable
* Experience in coordinating/managing research programmes or initiatives and/or experience in supporting early career researchers
* Experience in organising and running events or workshops
* Very good English skills and good German skills
Preferable/Desirable:
* Experience in academic research as a postdoctoral researcher
* Experience in project and science management
* Experience in working in international teams
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Organisational skills and a solution-oriented approach to work
* A high degree of reliability, commitment and motivation, as well as a service-oriented approach to work
