JOB DESCRIPTION
The role
You will join our cross-functional team dedicated to ensuring effective communication with HelloFresh customers. As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in implementing, and operating high-scale data processing pipelines that support our communications platform and message types such as email, SMS, and push notifications. Your team will be a place where your thoughts and opinions matter and your contributions will have a tremendous impact on the team's success.
What you’ll do
1. Work collaboratively in a cross-functional team of 6-10 members, utilizing diverse technologies and frameworks
2. Take ownership of the end-to-end process, including design, development, deployment, and operations of data pipelines, applying DevOps practices, pair programming, and other cutting-edge methodologies
3. Actively contribute as a solution-oriented member within autonomous, cross-functional agile teams, collaborating with product owners, backend engineers, mobile engineers, and business intelligence teams
4. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of HelloFresh's core product and architecture, serving as an ambassador for software solutions and providing support and mentorship to colleagues
5. Work with state-of-the-art technologies like AWS EMR, Kafka, PySpark, Kubernetes, Airflow, and more
What you’ll bring
6. Solid software engineering experience with the ability to design, implement, and deliver maintainable, high-quality code in Python/PySpark
7. Hands-on experience with cloud computing and data processing technologies, including Spark, Amazon EMR, Kubernetes, and Kafka
8. Proficiency in data modeling, relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), and object stores (e.g., AWS S3)
9. Expertise in end-to-end development processes, including unit, integration & functional testing, application tuning/profiling, and continuous integration
10. Demonstrated experience with agile methodologies, with a strong focus on delivery, lean thinking, and quick iterations
11. A continuous learner who seeks to develop your skills and learn from peers
12. Thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys mentoring team members, while also sharing practical knowledge and trends
13. Experience with event-driven architecture is nice to have
14. Bonus points for practical experience integrating marketing providers such as Iterable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and HubSpot
