Tesla is seeking an exceptional Electrical Design Engineer interns to join our Battery & Energy Electronics team at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. In this role, you will drive the end-to-end design, validation, and launch of PCBAs and electronic systems for Tesla's newest vehicle and energy platforms.
In this role, you will take start-to-finish ownership of battery electronics hardware - from specification, design, and simulation to prototyping, validation, and scaling for high-volume manufacturing and field deployment. You will thrive in Tesla's fast-paced environment, working hands-on to solve tough engineering problems and deliver industry-leading performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
What You'll Do- Own battery electronics hardware end-to-end: specification, schematics, simulation, PCB layout, prototyping, validation, and release to mass production
- Design, prototype, and validate HV battery management PCBAs and electronics for Tesla vehicles and energy storage systems
- Conduct hands-on failure analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigations to ensure long-term field reliability.
- Develop automated validation setups and test software to reduce test time and maximize coverage
- Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, test, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to optimize for DFM/DFA, cost, and scalability
- Partner with leading semiconductor and IC suppliers to integrate cutting-edge technologies into Tesla's next-gen BMS and electronics platforms.
- Support high-volume manufacturing, commissioning, and field studies with design expertise and continuous improvement efforts
What You'll Bring- Currently pursuing a BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Experience with analog and digital circuit design, PCB design, and component selection
- Understanding of serial communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, RS-485, USB, etc.).
- Knowledge of key analog components (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, etc.)
- Familiarity with manufacturing concepts (DFM/DFA), QC processes, and product/tool release workflows.
- Strong organization, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal)
