Hauptaufgaben As a journeyman mechanic performs maintenance and major repair work on heavy wheeled, tracked and special mobile equipment powered by internal combustion engines (gasoline, butane, diesel or multi-fuel) under closer supervision. Types include those in construction and maintenance, industrial or tactical use such as cranes, power shovels, bulldozers, tanks, road graders, heavy duty compressors, large generators, tractors, trucks, hydraulic lifts, pumps and accessory equipment and attachments. Diagnoses, repairs and adjusts engines and it's hang-on assemblies, like starters, carburetors, ignition-systems, clutches, differentials, axles, transmissions, steering and brake-systems and related electrical, hydraulic, and fuel units. Fabricates and machines parts and tools up to a specified level, while using appropriate machinery and tools. Performs body work which requires welding, straightening and soldering IAW the knowledge of the automotive mechanic or related trade. Uses specialized test equipment, hand and power tools to include motor testers, analyzers, pressure gauges, hydraulic jacks, welding equipment, micrometers etc. Performs other duties as assigned.
