Director of Medical Affairs provides scientific and medical leadership to establish a deep understanding of the medical landscape regarding relevant, rare amyloidoses, such as AL-A, and Alexion products. In line with Alexion's overall strategy, they are responsible for developing and implementing long-term strategies and establishing sustainable medical practices and infrastructures.
Director of Medical Affairs Amyloidosis makes strategic contributions to Alexion's activities in the field of rare amyloidoses. They support all functions of the German subsidiary working in this field in achieving local targets and Alexion Global Medical Affairs in its mission to achieve treatment outcomes by establishing and continuously improving an evidence-based standard of medical care. At the same time, they act as the external contact for medical and scientific concerns in the indication area.
Disciplinary leadership of the Amyloidosis Medical Affairs team and ensuring the team's objectives are achieved through the efficient management of all employees directly reporting to the position and the retention of talented employees through personal development support.
Development and implementation of the local medical strategy to support clinical practice and the objectives of the overall company.
Definition and communication of the resources required for the Amyloidosis Medical Affairs department to achieve local objectives.
Collaboration with International, Global Medical Affairs, and other functions for the successful local implementation of the Alexion strategy.
Responsibility for the implementation of new medical practices, the evaluation of new indications, analysis of the status quo of current treatment and patient pathways, identification of patients for clinical research, and the development of a deep understanding of the respective indication area.
University degree in medicine (preferred), pharmacy, or biology, PhD desirable
~5-8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry in medical affairs
