We are looking for a Chapter Lead Kinematics m/f/d who combines deep engineering expertise with a strong leadership mindset and the ambition to shape future‑ready solutions. In this role, you will take full ownership of an engineering chapter, driving technical excellence, people’s development, and sustainable innovation.
You will operate at the intersection of technology, leadership, and strategy – setting engineering standards, enabling high‑performing teams, and influencing key product decisions across international, cross‑functional projects. Beyond managing today’s challenges, you will actively develop capabilities for tomorrow, empowering engineers to deliver reliable, high‑performance solutions that make a tangible impact on our products and customers.
Your Responsibilities:
People Management
* Lead, develop, and motivate a chapter of product development engineers.
* Conduct regular performance reviews, feedback sessions, and create individual development and training plans.
* Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, technical excellence, and collaboration.
* Ensure proper resource planning, skill development, and capability building across the chapter.
* Support recruiting activities and ensure smooth onboarding for new team members.
* Build a strong talent pipeline and promote continuous learning and professional growth.
Research & Innovation
* Establish a culture of innovation and build partnerships with universities, research institutions, and suppliers.
* Define structured processes for monitoring new technologies, materials, and manufacturing methods.
* Translate market and technology insights into actionable product requirements.
* Coach engineers on innovation methodologies and intellectual property strategies.
Design & Development
* Define, maintain, and continuously improve engineering standards, design guidelines, and best practices.
* Set up and lead design review processes that ensure compliance with performance, usability, and regulatory requirements.
* Enable engineers to manage the full product development lifecycle.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on field performance, feedback, and lessons learned.
Prototyping & Testing
* Support engineers in building and refining prototypes to verify design integrity and reliability.
* Ensure adherence to internal and external testing standards and regulatory guidelines.
* Introduce advanced simulation and analysis tools to optimize design performance.
* Strengthen team capabilities in reliability testing and design validation.
Regulatory Compliance
* Ensure all chapter activities comply with the Quality Management System and relevant regulatory requirements.
* Prepare the team for audits and ensure complete and compliant documentation.
* Train engineers on regulatory requirements, documentation excellence, and compliance best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Promote strong collaboration with product management, marketing, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and other stakeholders.
* Ensure chapter activities are aligned with business objectives and customer needs.
* Facilitate effective communication, knowledge sharing, and alignment across all functions.
Troubleshooting & Optimization
* Implement structured methods such as FMEA, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
* Coach engineers in systematic problem‑solving and preventive quality techniques.
* Ensure robust documentation and clear maintenance of product specifications.
Supplier Enablement
* Support engineers in managing technical communication with external partners and suppliers.
Project Management
* Ensure resource availability and optimize skill allocation across global project teams.
* Coach engineers in modern project management methodologies and tools.
Intellectual Property (IP)
* Support patent application strategies and competitive IP monitoring.
* Prepare patent applications and track competitor activity.
* Contribute to developing protection measures to safeguard innovative solutions.
Travel Requirements
* International business travel up to 5%.
Your Profile:
Education:
* A university degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
* Proven experience in product development, ideally in mechanical or mechatronic systems.
* Experience in the dental or medical device industry is a strong advantage.
* Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and industry standards, familiarity with medical device regulations (e.g. MDR).
* At least 5 years of experience in project management, leadership, or an equivalent position.
* Excellent leadership, coaching, and mentoring capabilities.
* Solid experience with project management methodologies.
* Willingness to take a deep dive into the technologies related to our products.
* Strong understanding of engineering principles, standards, and quality systems; advanced mechanical design capabilities and familiarity with CAD System (e.g. Creo) and simulation tools (e.g. FEM) for governance purposes.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to engage and align stakeholders.
* Strategic and structured thinker with a focus on capability building and continuous improvement.
* Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written.
