Responsibilities
1. Definition, acquisition and enforcement of legally valid property rights (patents, trademarks, utility models and registered designs) in Germany and abroad
2. Representation of the Evonik Group and its cooperation partners before (inter)national authorities and courts on its own responsibility
3. Challenging third-party property rights and defending against attacks by third parties
4. Drafting of expert opinions and evaluation of own and third-party intellectual property rights in Germany and abroad prior to the market launch of new products and large-scale technical processes as well as in the course of research projects
5. Participation in and, if necessary, initiation of the development and implementation of intellectual property rights strategies
6. Monitoring and enforcement of compliance with applicable regulations and legal provisions for patent, utility model, trademark and employee invention law
7. Advising on research, cooperation, license and confidentiality agreements
8. Review and approval of new products, brochures, packaging and publications
Requirements
9. Successfully completed studies in chemistry or chemical engineering, preferably in the field of organic, inorganic or polymer chemistry
10. Successfully completed qualification as a professional representative before the European Patent Office; alternatively, completed training as a German patent attorney with started preparation for the EQE
11. Several years of professional experience in an industrial company, preferably in the chemical industry; alternatively, professional experience in a private law firm
12. Preferably experience in dealing with universities and other research collaborations
13. Good knowledge of English; good knowledge of French and/or German desirable
14. Strategic thinker, strong negotiation skills and customer focus, with a passion for research and innovation and the ability to quickly grasp technological developments
15. Integrative personality with strong communication skills and team spirit in an international environment
16. High level of initiative and flexibility
