The Opportunity
Reporting to the Managing Director of European Markets, the Director of Operations will provide insight and expertise to supply, demand, logistics, and all site manufacturing. This individual will use their entrepreneurial and senior operational & business knowledge to ensure our locations in Europe are supported and operating accordingly. The key to success in this role will be the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across culturally diverse teams and drive forward operational effectiveness and innovation aligned with Canopy’s corporate vision and objectives. A major goal is the seamless operations across our global production sites. The role will have a dotted line to the SVP, Global Operations.
Responsibilities
1. Own European operations performance and regional P&L.
2. Align country operations to company strategy, brand standards, and budgets; translate strategy into actionable regional plans.
3. Lead cross‑regional execution across supply, demand, logistics, and manufacturing to ensure seamless site-to-site operations.
4. Oversee facility construction and expansion projects across Europe.
5. Ensure operational compliance with regional/national/international requirements and embed GMP standards.
6. Build and manage procurement and third‑party manufacturing partnerships.
7. Drive continuous improvement and scale readiness (process efficiency, systems, and back-office enhancements).
8. Partner with European and global leadership; participate in senior management reviews, budgeting, and forecasting.
9. Build a high‑performing, values‑led culture of quality, transparency, customer focus, and accountability across Europe.
Experience and Background
10. A Masters or Secondary Degree in Business, or relevant discipline
11. 10+ years of experience in a senior operational expertise in a European GMP environment; project management experience and vertical integration/scaling design and execution.
12. 10+ years in a leadership, executive position overseeing senior operational managers across different time zones and jurisdictions.
13. Proven ability to lead and manage remote and virtual teams, along with an established entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to work in a fast-paced start-up environment.
14. Supply Chain experience in an import/export and manufacturing environment.
15. Experience in working in a global environment with progressive responsibility.
16. Strict attention to detail.
17. Demonstrated experience forging strategic relationships.
18. Outstanding communication, organizational, budget and strategic skills.
19. Experience in medical, pharmaceutical, beverage alcohol, cannabis or related manufacturing industries a distinct asset.
20. Multilingual Fluency is important.
