Our client is a leading international engineering and construction contractor delivering complex, high-value projects across sectors including advanced manufacturing, logistics, pharmaceuticals and data centres.
They are currently seeking an experienced HSE Manager to oversee health, safety and environmental compliance on a major construction project in Finsterwalde, Germany.
This is a key site-based leadership role responsible for ensuring the highest safety standards are implemented and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
The Role
You will be responsible for ensuring the project remains fully compliant with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation while driving a strong safety culture across site operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensuring the project remains in a safe and compliant condition at all times
* Implementing and maintaining the company’s health and safety policies
* Advising site leadership on statutory safety requirements and regulatory compliance
* Conducting regular site inspections and audits, with clear reporting and follow-up actions
* Ensuring all corrective actions are closed out within agreed timeframes
* Supporting accident investigations and producing detailed reports
* Reviewing and approving risk assessments and method statements
* Ensuring appropriate site inductions are carried out for all operatives and subcontractors
* Monitoring welfare facilities and site setup to ensure compliance
* Overseeing permits to work and high-risk activities
* Ensuring safe storage and handling of hazardous materials
* Promoting continuous improvement in health and safety performance
Candidate Profile
* Recognised Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent)
* Proven experience working on large-scale construction projects
* Strong knowledge of construction health and safety legislation
* Experience managing subcontractors and driving safety compliance on live sites
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
* Effective decision-making and time management skills
* Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
* Full driving licence
