Duties Description As per Civil Service Standards, the Facility Operations Assistant 2 coordinates and oversees functions related to the operations and maintenance within the General Institutional Services (GIS) of Facilities. Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Facilities Manager or higher-level staff, the incumbent supervises and performs manual, operational, and semi-skilled tasks necessary to support in the daily physical operations, ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with SUNY and State regulations. The role is operational in nature and involves direct participation in material handling, equipment operation, movement of campus property, and support of institutional service functions.
Duties include but not limited to the following as below:
· Transport and actively participate in receiving, distributing, and moving materials, equipment, mail, and campus property as needed in compliance with State and campus policies.
· Oversee the inspection, staging, and distribution of materials, supplies, and equipment.
· Supervise FOA1s and student staff assigned engaged in operational functions and is limited to labor-class personnel within the Facilities operation.
· Maintain accurate inventory and delivery records; prepare reports on receipts, storage, and transfers.
· Coordinate surplus property tagging, storage, and disposal in accordance with SUNY PCS guidelines.
· Operate campus vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment safely and efficiently.
· Maintain clean, organized, and secure dock, mailroom, and warehouse areas.
· Ensure compliance with safety and operational policies; train and monitor staff in proper procedures.
· Provide customer service to campus departments regarding deliveries, mail, and property movement.
· Perform related semiskilled maintenance or operational support duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: one year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate a motor vehicle, applicant must possess and keep a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. The applicant must have and keep a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possession and maintenance of a current appropriate valid Commercial Driver’s License issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
