💡 About SWARM Biotactics
At SWARM Biotactics, we’re creating biorobots — living, intelligent systems based on insects. Each insect carries a custom-designed backpack enabling wireless control, sensing, and secure communication.
Biorobot swarms combine the efficiency of biology with AI, sensing, and swarm coordination — unlocking capabilities where conventional machines fail.
We are the only company in the world doing this — and we’re building the foundational systems that make living machines possible.
🚀 Join us at the frontier — and help create the first generation of living machines.
💡 Your Role
You will define and implement the core medium access and RF network formation layer of living biorobot swarms.
This is not about applying existing protocols.
Our systems operate under conditions where classical assumptions about RF networks no longer hold — including instability, partial observability, and tight physical constraints.
You will design how distributed agents access the medium, organize locally, and sustain collective RF communication behavior without predefined structures or centralized coordination.
The work sits at the intersection of radio, baseband, and distributed systems, with direct impact on real-world swarm behavior.
This is a foundational role with no blueprint and no precedent.
🔬 What You’ll Do
* Own the design of low-level RF communication coordination mechanisms under extreme constraints
* Define how agents establish and maintain functional RF connectivity in fully decentralized environments
* Shape how RF communication enables collective behavior and system-level coherence
* Translate physical and system constraints into robust, scalable interaction rules
* Prototype and iterate closely with embedded, baseband, and swarm intelligence teams
🧠 Your Profile
You bring 8+ years of professional experience in wireless systems, MAC design, or distributed RF systems (internships excluded), with strong proximity to radio and baseband.
You have experience working on systems where:
* Medium access, timing, and contention are central challenges
* Performance emerges from local interaction rules rather than global control
* Constraints in energy, bandwidth, or synchronization dominate design decisions
You are comfortable working close to implementation and hardware realities, and you are motivated by problems where existing RF network standards are insufficient.
You are looking to invent new communication models.
🌍 How You Work
This role is intentionally selective.
You are:
* Mission-driven, with strong ownership and bias toward action
* Comfortable operating without precedent or fixed solutions
* Able to reason across layers — from RF constraints to system behavior
* Curious, collaborative, and intellectually honest
* Resilient to failure, and persistent in turning ideas into working systems
If you need clearly defined architectures, stable protocols, or predictable outcomes, this role will not work.
🌍 Why SWARM Biotactics
We are well-funded, moving fast, and operating in a domain no one else occupies.
Your work will define the foundational communication layer of living machines — not a feature, not an optimization, but the core system everything else depends on.
⚡ Join the Swarm
This is not a role for safe careers or incremental progress.
It is a role for people who want to define how a new class of machines communicates.
If that’s you, we want to meet you.
