We are looking for a motivated and result-oriented “Machine Learning Scientist” to join the AI and Machine Learning R&D team in Munich. In this role, you will be responsible for developing state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and applications for various medical fields such as ophthalmology, laser vision correction, and microsurgery. You will also play a key role in driving innovation and implementing new AI-based medical software concepts on cloud platforms or devices. This role involves close interaction and collaboration with different teams across multiple locations.
Your Role
1. Develop machine learning algorithms and data mining methods for medical applications, primarily with text data and secondarily with structured data.
2. Drive innovation and generate intellectual property.
3. Provide technical expertise and guidance to support the requirements for cloud-based or device-based ML algorithms.
4. Establish and review quality management system documents for ML application approval.
5. Review state-of-the-art AI applications from third-party providers, analyze, and prepare them for deployment.
Your Profile
1. PhD in machine learning, data science, informatics, or related fields.
2. At least 3 years of experience as a data scientist.
3. Experience in natural language processing, including classic NLP approaches and advanced Large Language Models.
4. Deep knowledge of shallow and deep machine learning algorithms.
5. Experience with machine learning frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
6. Proficiency in Python programming.
7. Hands-on experience with ML cloud providers, preferably Microsoft Azure ML service.
8. Good knowledge of statistical analysis and pattern recognition with structured data.
9. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
10. Fluency in English.
Nice to Have
1. Experience in computer vision and ML development for images.
2. Experience working in regulated environments like medical software development.
3. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure platform and workspaces.
4. Experience with other programming languages such as C++.
