Inserat online seit: 10 Februar
Beschreibung

The Institut für Molekularbiologie of the University Medical Center Göttingen is looking for a new position for the earliest start date

Postdoctoral fellow (f/m/d)

full time, limited for a duration of 2 years
Remuneration according to TV-L

Dissecting chromatin remodeller functions and nucleosome positioning patterns using an in vitro chromatin reconstitution system.

About us

The Chromatin Dynamics group combines biochemistry, next-generation sequencing and computational analysis to understand how chromatin remodelling enzymes shape nucleosome positioning and genome regulation. We develop and apply in vitro chromatin reconstitution systems that enable mechanistic experiments on a genome-wide scale to dissect functions and interactions of ATP-dependent chromatin remodelling enzymes.

We are located at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) and are embedded in the highly collaborative Göttingen Campus, with access to state-of-the-art core facilities and interdisciplinary collaborations.

For recent examples of our research, see:

Your tasks

* work in a stimulating, international and collaborative environment
* develop and pursue an independent project addressing how human remodellers establish nucleosome positioning patterns
* establish and use human chromatin reconstitution systems
* purify and characterize chromatin remodelling complexes, and benchmark their activities
* generate nucleosome positioning maps using sequencing-based readouts (e.g., MNase-seq, Fiber-seq) and perform quantitative data analysis (bioinformatics)
* present results at group meetings, seminars and conferences and contribute to high-quality publications

Your qualifications

* you are a motivated and enthusiastic scientist who can work independently but also in a team
* you hold a PhD in life sciences (e.g. molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, computational biology or related areas)
* you have experience in NGS-based assays and NGS data analysis
* experience in one or more of the following is a strong advantage:

o protein purification / enzymology (including multi-subunit complexes)
o chromatin profiling assays (e.g., MNase-seq) or comparable
o chromatin biochemistry and in vitro reconstitution
o bioinformatics workflows (R/Python), statistics, reproducible analysis
o third generation sequencing (e.g. Oxford Nanopore)

* fluent English language skills (written and spoken) are required

We offer

* a project in a high-impact research field, embedded in the collaborative environment of the Göttingen Campus with excellent access to core facilities (NGS, proteomics, computing)
* close mentoring and support for career development (conference travel, networking, writing)
* fixed-term position (full-time), initially for 2 years, with anticipated extension depending on project progress and funding

Please upload (i) a short statement of motivation and relevant experience, (ii) CV, (iii) publication list, (iv) exam certificates (if applicable), and (v) names and contact details of at least two references until February 23rd, 2026.

We look forward to receiving your application!

The University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) unites the Medical Faculty of the Georg-August University and the University Hospital in an integration model. With around 9,700 employees, the UMG and its subsidiaries are one of the largest employers in the region.
