What To Expect Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Design Manager for Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. The Gigafactory design team drives to create the factory of the future by overseeing the design of cutting‑edge large‑scale equipment and utility systems to support highly innovating manufacturing processes. What You’ll Do Act as the design lead overseeing all phases of the project, from concept development to final handover to the facilities team upon project completion. Assume responsibility for the design deliveries (Design for individual design stages 30%, 60%, 90%, 100%, specifications, BOQ, calculations as needed, descriptions, SOO, etc.) across all engineering disciplines (CSA, MEPC, Fire Protection), managing design quality and mitigating errors to ensure successful project delivery. Facilitate effective communication with permitting, procurement, project control and construction teams to drive project success. Establish design direction and prioritize tasks for each design discipline, ensuring efficient project execution within aggressive schedules including clear goals for design sprints to ensure shortest schedule for design development. Conduct design reviews to verify that all stakeholder (MFG, EHS, Permit, FM, etc.) requirements are met and to prevent design gaps between disciplines. Challenge design changes to assess their validity and reasonableness, leading efforts to achieve maximum impact with minimal cost. Coordinate with the project control team to develop a design schedule and budget that aligns with procurement and construction timelines. Follow up with the procurement team from RFP package transmittal to contract completion. Support design‑related tasks during construction, including RFIs, FCRs, and as‑built documentation. Collaborate with the document control team to approve design documents within the company’s platform and officially transmit them to procurement and construction teams. Improve existing processes using IT tools through out‑of‑the‑box thinking to enhance efficiency and rationality. Regularly update the lessons learned database to prevent design errors and improve future project outcomes proactively. What You’ll Bring Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical Engineering Experience managing multi‑disciplinary projects within engineering firms, managing building, infrastructure and/or MEP projects, ideally experience in project management within the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or battery sectors designing manufacturing facilities and site infrastructure development, working with authorities and be able to build strong relationship with local jurisdictions Fully understanding all engineering disciplines and be able to demonstrate skills to manage engineering resources Proven record in delivery of design packages (LP1-7) Advanced project management skills, demonstrated application of project and program management fundamentals to complex engineering problems Subcontractor and third‑party consulting firm management experience Ability to effectively execute many projects and tasks in parallel Excellent communication and documentation skills with ability to understand complex problems and distill the message into a clear plan Construction Project Management experience is a plus Following software experience is a plus: Revit, SharePoint, BIM360, Navisworks Fluent in English, German is a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr
