The Position Join our dynamic Indirect Tax team at headquarters and help shape and automate the global Indirect Tax footprint of Boehringer Ingelheim by collaborating with our tax teams worldwide and overseeing Indirect Tax activities globally. As a VAT (Value Added Tax) expert, you will lead cross-functional tax projects, ensuring tax effectiveness for complex domestic and international transactions. In this role, you will autonomously advise on Indirect Tax impacts, represent tax matters in key business meetings, and communicate tax positions while proactively challenging and optimizing processes. You will also develop ideas, deliver high-quality results, and drive initiatives to enhance the Indirect Tax function. Tasks & responsibilities You will define and oversee business set-ups, international contracts, and M&A projects, ensuring VAT considerations are properly integrated and implemented during integration processes. In this role, you will manage and drive day-to-day requests in the field of Indirect Tax (VAT and ideally Excise Duties, including Energy tax, Electricity tax, and Alcohol tax) independently. You will take ownership of Indirect Tax audits, communicate with competent authorities, and oversee smooth execution of recurring year-end close activities. As a key contributor, you will lead Indirect Tax matters in tax technology projects (e.g., SAP 4/Hana transition), identifying and driving automation opportunities and innovative initiatives. You will review and enhance in-house training materials, presentations, and knowledge transfer sessions, ensuring they are impactful and effective. Requirements Diploma/University degree with focus on Business Administration/ Law/ Economics or comparable major, ideally specialized in Tax or vocational training in the area of tax/ accounting plus long-term work experience in that field Very strong VAT subject matter expertise, achieved through several years of relevant tax experience in-house or as a consultant. Additionally, a general understanding of Excise Duties is recommended Very good knowledge of MS Office and SAP with a view to VAT relevant parameters, processes, reporting activities and settings, as well as interest in and experience with AI and Boehringer Ingelheim applications Good process understanding as well as knowledge in the design and implementation of tax digitization projects Good organization, communication, and management skills Hands-on mentality and solution-oriented Fluent in English Ready to contact us?
