Position Description
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the production, monitoring and validation of the daily P&L including commentary on P&L drivers and variance analysis
• Own the balance sheet substantiation process for trading book positions and ensure accurate valuation and reconciliation
• Responsible for monitoring, investigating and explaining P&L discrepancies and resolving breaks
• Responsible for the IPV process and for challenging discrepancies in the valuation control forum
• Responsible for the Fund Transfer Pricing Process
• Monitor the effectiveness of hedging products
• Perform market conformity checks
• Act as a primary contact for Front Office and provide product and desks performance overviews
• Strong collaboration with Treasury, Risk Management and Operations (amongst others)
• Responsible for reporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end financials for trading book positions
• Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes through automation, data analytics and workflow enhancements
• Driving the implementation of new processes and policies
• Act as a primary contact for internal and external auditors for questions around trading book positions and P&L
• Responsible for leading and developing the Product Control team
• Any other tasks assigned by Head of Management reporting & Product Control or Head of Finance
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
• Several years’ experience in a controlling / finance role within a financial institution, ideally in an investment bank
• Experience in leading a team
• Educated to Bachelors / masters level; any professional qualification is considered as a plus
• Be able to understand complex concepts, challenge them and provide explanations in a clear and precise way
• Strong analytical, numerical and IT skills
• Strong understanding of financial products and investment banking
• Expertise in accounting, financial reporting (IFRS and HGB) and valuation
• Proven track record in building relationships (both internal and external) as well as demonstrating and promoting team spirit
• Be able to work independently
• Demonstration of SMBC values
• Language skills: business fluent in English
