Responsibilities A Unified Communications (UC) / AV VTC Engineer designs, implements, and maintains integrated communication systems for an organization, merging various tools like voice, video, and data into a single platform. Their responsibilities include system administration, performance monitoring, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with other IT teams to ensure seamless communication for users. They often work with specific technologies like IP telephony, video conferencing, and instant messaging platforms. System design and implementation: Create and deploy comprehensive communication systems by integrating various tools like voice, video, instant messaging, and email. Administration and maintenance: Manage and configure communication platforms such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), and maintain high availability of services. Troubleshooting and support: Resolve technical issues with voice, video, and messaging systems, and provide escalated support for users .Performance monitoring: Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve problems to ensure optimal performance and uptime. Collaboration: Work with other IT teams and vendors to integrate communications systems into existing infrastructure and troubleshoot issues. Qualifications Required Currently hold an adjudicated a Top Secret/SCI Clearance. TESA Eligibility BA/BS 3 years recent specialized or AA/AS 5 years recent specialized or a major cert 7 years recent specialized or 9 years of recent specialized experience CUCM experience CompTIA Security (IAT Level II or greater) Experience with Cisco TMS Experience with Extron Switchers and Extenders Experience with Crestron NVX, and AMX AV systems Experience with Cisco Routers and Switches Experience with Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems and networking Experience with Unimax UC Management Software Experience with Cisco Meeting Management and Cisco Meeting Server Able to lift at least 50 lbs Desired Networking knowledge: A strong understanding of networking principles is essential for managing and integrating communication systems. Troubleshooting skills: The ability to analyze issues using tools like packet capture software (e.g., Wireshark) and deciphering system traces is crucial. Project management: The ability to manage projects from start to finish is often needed.
