The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) is the state's sales and marketing arm, the lead agency for attracting new business investment, encouraging the expansion of existing industry and small businesses, aligning workforce education and training with in-demand jobs, locating new markets for Georgia products, attracting tourists to Georgia, and promoting the state as a destination for arts and location for film, music and digital entertainment projects, as well as planning and mobilizing state resources for economic development.

Job Functions & Responsibilities
The Business Development Manager is an integral part of a small team working to promote the State of Georgia as a business location for European companies. This role reports to the Managing Director and is responsible for developing qualified investment leads for the State of Georgia, focusing on target industries for foreign direct investment. As part of these responsibilities, the Manager will work to nurture existing relationships in government, industry and international organizations while fostering new ties with partners across Europe. Moreover, this person will work closely with colleagues in Munich and Atlanta to support Georgia's economic development initiatives that have made it the leading U.S. state in which to do business.

Responsibilities include the following:
Business Recruitment: Strategy & Marketing
Business recruitment, or investment attraction and promotion, are at the core of the Business Development Manager's responsibility. In this position, the individual will be charged with recruiting and supporting prospective and existing investors.
In addition, business recruitment efforts will also include the following:
* Lead Generation: Contribute to the pipeline for investment leads and conduct preliminary outreach to prospective targets in order to support the Europe Office's business development efforts.
* New & Existing Projects: Identify and pursue new investment targets in Europe while supporting the efforts of the project management team (Global Commerce division) in Atlanta.
* Event Management & Marketing: Prepare and attend relevant trade shows, business recruitment missions, industrial conferences and seminars, special marketing events and institutional engagements delineated in the Program of Work.
* Market Research & Reporting: Follow and track general industry trends and events. Interface regularly with industry experts and specialists active in Georgia's target industries.
* Delegation Support: Play a supportive role in coordination and organizing key events and meetings for inbound Georgia-based delegations traveling in Europe.
Qualifications & Skillsets
* Independently motivated, organized, communicative, and general team player;
* Internationally minded with a good command and understanding of diverse business cultural dynamics across European markets;
* Broad knowledge of global industry trends; specifically, across continental Europe as they relate to Georgia's target FDI industries
* Professionalism to represent the State of Georgia at conferences, meetings, and industry events;
* Ability, availability and flexibility to travel within Europe and to Georgia;
* Flexibility to work in a hybrid in-person and virtual office setting;
* Fluency in German and English; another European language preferred
* Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and CRM systems;
* Strong writing and communication skills;
* University degree in business, political science, international relations or similar field.

Finally, the Business Development Manager will serve as an official representative of the State of Georgia in Europe and is expected to represent and promote the State as a great place in which to live, work, and do business.

Earliest possible start date would be November 1, 2025 and contract would conclude by November 30, 2026.
