YOUR TEAM
Within the T1 domain (Connect & Cloud) you will be part of building, maintaining and operating world-class connected platforms from the vehicle up to the backend API. Having you in our team, you will unfold expertise in vehicle connectivity, mobile online services, cloud platforms or data platforms. We operate the world's largest vehicle platform with approximately 45 million connected vehicles. Through close collaboration, onboarding, and management of international partners and stakeholders, we ensure 24/7 global operations and software engineering across all Connected Vehicle Services products.
You will play a key role in shaping the future of our software teams and leading them toward innovative, scalable, and future-ready mobility solutions. With our worldwide solutions, we support all brands across the group and deliver value to their customers around the globe.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
* Define and implement a robust cloud integration strategy for automotive cloud platforms, enabling seamless interoperability between vehicle systems, backend services, mobile applications, and third-party ecosystems across the full DevOps toolchain.
* Lead the development and continuous evolution of cloud-native platform architectures, focusing on scalability, multi-tenancy, high availability, and secure service orchestration across global regions.
* Identify and realize FinOps opportunities to ensure cost-efficient cloud operations, including proactive monitoring of resource usage and financial accountability across teams.
* Drive the optimization of cloud development processes, infrastructure automation, and platform engineering practices to enable efficient deployment, monitoring, operations and lifecycle management of connected vehicle services.
* Oversee all cloud-related integration activities within the automotive domain, working closely with internal software teams, platform owners, cybersecurity units, and external technology providers (e.g., hyperscalers, backend suppliers).
* Integrate Al tools to enhance product development, platform operations, service assurance, and predictive maintenance strategies.
* Steer the agile delivery of cloud platform capabilities, leveraging methods such as Scrum or SAFe to ensure rapid iteration, platform reliability, and cross-functional alignment with vehicle and mobile development teams.
* Manage a high-performing cloud platform team, ensuring clear ownership structures, efficient resource planning, and continuous upskilling in areas such as Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, observability, and cloud security.
* Translate strategic roadmaps into tangible customer and brand value by aligning platform capabilities with end-user expectations and business objectives.
WHO YOU ARE
* Successfully completed studies in the field of computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics or comparable studies
* More than 10 years of professional experience in connectivity platforms or digital service environments
* At least 7 years of experience in disciplinary leadership and/or a Volkswagen leadership license
* Demonstrated ability to define and execute future-ready platform strategies, applying innovative thinking to enable new service architectures, data pipelines, and cloud-to-vehicle integrations.
* Proven experience in leading distributed and cross-functional cloud teams across international locations, with strong alignment between platform, application, and cybersecurity domains.
* Oversee budget planning and management for cloud platform initiatives, ensuring financial efficiency and alignment with business priorities.
* Track record of driving collaboration and achieving impact in complex, matrixed tech organizations - particularly at the interface between software engineering, IT operations, and digital product development.
* Communicate effectively at C-level and across executive committees, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and stakeholder expectations.
* Fluent in English and German, both written and spoken, with strong communication skills across technical, operational, and leadership levels.
