The Opportunity
We’re supporting a global organisation on a major multi-year lab digitalisation programme, transforming a heavily paper-based environment into a fully digital, AI-ready laboratory within the next 2–3 years .
Following completion of the analysis phase with a third-party consultancy, they are now entering the implementation phase —and are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of building and integrating the core lab systems and infrastructure.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll not only be hands-on but also coordinate multiple vendors and technology partners to bring the digital roadmap to life.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in designing, building, and integrating lab IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity between systems, instruments, and platforms.
This role sits at the intersection of:
* Infrastructure engineering
* Lab systems (LIMS / ELN)
* Middleware & device integration
Key Responsibilities
* Design and build IT infrastructure, networks, and domains supporting lab environments
* Implement and integrate middleware and device connectivity layers
* Support and maintain lab systems (LIMS, ELN, SDMS)
* Ensure data flow between lab instruments and digital systems
* Work hands-on with system installation, configuration, and integration
* Manage and coordinate third-party vendors (LIMS/ELN providers, equipment vendors, network teams)
* Ensure compliance with GxP, CSV, and data integrity standards
* Support the transition from paper-based processes to digital workflows
What We’re Looking For
* Strong experience as an Infrastructure / Systems Engineer in complex environments
* Proven experience working with lab systems (LIMS, ELN, SDMS)
* Hands-on experience with middleware, system integration, and instrument connectivity
* Solid understanding of lab data flows and system architecture
* Experience in regulated environments (GxP, CSV, data integrity)
* Experience with VMware and enterprise IT infrastructure
* Ability to work both hands-on and in a vendor management capacity
Desirable
* Experience in lab digitalisation or transformation projects
* Exposure to pharma / biotech environments
* German language skills
