About our research centre.
The LCSB is an interdisciplinary centre that conducts fundamental and translational research in Systems Biology and Biomedicine.
Our focus is on neurodegenerative processes, particularly Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, and their contributing factors.
As a Laboratory Technician, you will join our Enzymology & Metabolism group, led by Prof. Carole Linster. Your role involves unraveling how metabolic impairments are involved in rare and common neurodegenerative diseases.
You will work with genomic and postgenomic data, generate human cell and animal models, and test therapeutic approaches.
Key responsibilities include:
* Molecular biology techniques, including cloning, PCR, vector design, and production
* Preparation of DNA samples for sequencing and analysis of sequencing results
* Metabolite and RNA extraction, and sample preparation for metabolomics and transcriptomics analyses
* Set up and performance of various biochemical assays and protein purifications
* Mammalian cell culture and differentiation
* Cell transfection for gene silencing/overexpression
* Immunohistochemical/immunofluorescent staining
* Assist with microscopy and image analysis
* Assist with laboratory animal experiments
* Perform analysis of all generated experimental data, including statistics
* Make up and maintain stock/working chemical solutions, growth media, bacterial glycerol stocks, mammalian cell banks
* Contribute to the maintenance of various equipment pieces including FPLC protein purifier, UHPLC, fridges/freezers, pH-meter
* Maintain a clean laboratory setting and refill general consumable stocks
* Order, gather, inventory, and stock supplies for laboratory use
* Keep a record of current projects in a well-organized lab notebook
* Work collaboratively and present research findings during internal scientific meetings
