* Technical writing or user assistance (term used at client, technical writers at the client are referred to as user assistance developers.)
* An external technical writer or external user assistance developer:
* Creates user assistance for the client software (as appropriate for the type of software, target groups etc. and as defined by the user assistance lead)
* covers terminology, UI texts (e.g. field labels, messages), embedded help (e.g. field help or guided tour), and documentation on SAP Help Portal as well as related multimedia (graphics, how-to videos, gifs…)
* Acts as an advocate for an excellent user experience (especially on the UI) in terms of terminology, formulations, style, tone, comprehensibility, translatability, and multimedia
* Reworks UI text and messages, adds embedded help where required, and describes complex information in documentation
* Collaborates with UX and UA peers to reach consistent results across the product and SAP
* Applies the relevant SAP standards and guidelines for user assistance
* Tests the user assistance in the software

* Good German skills, for terminology work and translation testing
* knowledge in SAP UA development landscape
* experience with cloud-native, agile, continuous development
* A note on the impact of (Gen)AI: User assistance developers may be able to increase efficiency through generating natural language from source code or by using GenAI to summarize specs, meeting transcriptions, backlogs, and so on. However, GenAI will need to be fed with high quality content for SAP’s investment in AI to pay off. If content quality will decrease, GenAI will quickly make this transparent to our customers
