🔹 About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Data Compliance Manager (GDPR) to join our EU Data Protection function in Germany.
This role will be responsible for driving the implementation of data governance, privacy and data protection programs in Germany and selected EU markets, ensuring compliance with GDPR, Data Act and other applicable EU data protection regulations.
You will work closely with EU regional and headquarters Data Compliance teams and act as the primary contact for local supervisory authorities and data subjects.
🔹 Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support GDPR and data compliance governance across Germany and 2–3 EU subsidiaries
* Develop, implement and maintain data governance frameworks, privacy policies, SOPs and compliance programs
* Advise business teams on GDPR compliance for digital projects, new technologies and data-driven initiatives
* Conduct and review DPIAs / PIAs and cross-border data transfer assessments
* Monitor changes in EU and local data protection laws and translate regulatory requirements into internal standards
* Act as the main liaison with local Data Protection Authorities, managing regulatory filings, audits, inquiries and incident responses
* Maintain records of data assets, data processing activities and data transfers
* Lead data security incident management, including breach response, notifications and remediation
* Review contracts, privacy notices, consent mechanisms, T&Cs in cooperation with Legal and Procurement
* Develop and deliver data protection and privacy training to raise employee awareness
* Support internal audits, inspections and other regulatory requirements under applicable data privacy laws
🔹 Qualifications & Experience
* Law degree or equivalent qualification with strong EU data protection and privacy law expertise
* 5+ years of experience in data privacy / data compliance, ideally within the automotive or manufacturing industry
* Practical experience working with EU / local Data Protection Authorities and regulatory filings
* Solid understanding of GDPR, EU data protection framework and related regulations
* Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM or CIPT are a strong plus
* Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under time pressure
* High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

* Good understanding of IT systems, data management and digital business models
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to work independently and influence senior business stakeholders
* Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Fluent in English (German is a plus)
