The Company
A leading digital insurance broker for small businesses has built an international distribution tech platform operating across multiple European countries. Backed by top-tier investors, its growth strategy includes both organic expansion and M&A.
To support insurance capacity at a European scale, it has established a specialised structure focused on Capacity Management, Underwriting, and MGA Solutions. The MGA Solutions team, based in Hamburg, manages the financial and insurance infrastructure, leveraging proprietary technology and expertise in insurance, reinsurance, and legal matters to enhance business intelligence for partner insurers.
As part of this growth, the company is looking for a Managing Director/Lloyd’s Broker & Head of MGA Solutions to lead its MGA Solutions team. This senior role will play a key part in shaping the company’s insurance and financial infrastructure, driving strategic initiatives, and strengthening its capacity management across Europe.
The Job
In this role, you will lead the MGA Solutions team and oversee key subsidiaries and related operations in Hamburg (Germany). Reporting to the Head of Master MGA, you will work closely with C-level leadership, including the Chief Underwriting Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Country Managers, to drive strategic initiatives, enhance capacity management, and ensure operational excellence across the organisation.
📌 Main responsibilities include:
* Establish and manage the insurance capacity of the organisation across Europe
* Act as the representative of the company, engaging with insurers and Lloyd’s syndicates as a Lloyd’s Broker
* Develop and maintain the binder infrastructure, including binders, contracts, treaties, processes, accounts, and APIs
* Fulfill the organisation’s commitments to insurers, including reporting, analytics, audits, and continuously improving the quality and terms of partnerships
* Utilise data from across the organisation to provide actionable business intelligence and drive decision-making
* Represent the organisation before relevant regulatory and administrative authorities, ensuring compliance and effective collaboration.
* Lead and motivate teams, ensuring the right skills and competencies are in place for success
* Deploy the company culture, processes, and tools across the teams to align with organisational values and goals
* Optimise the use of local resources by leveraging the tech platform to deliver superior performance and efficiency
👋 About You:
* 10+ years of experience in senior roles within the insurance and reinsurance industries in Europe
* Proven expertise in setting up and managing MGA binding authorities, including at Lloyd's, in a European context
* In-depth knowledge of technical accounting, underwriting processes, distribution compliance
* Ability to manage relationships with insurers, brokers, and regulatory authorities across Europe
* Strong strategic and operational expertise in capacity management, risk assessment, and underwriting practices
* Experience driving process improvements and operational efficiencies in insurance/MGA environments
* Critical thinking and data-driven decision-making skills using business intelligence tools
* Outstanding communication and negotiation skills with key stakeholders
* Proven leadership in motivating and guiding diverse teams to achieve business goals
* Fluency in English and German
