Your role
As a trainee in media monitoring you will:
* continuously monitor and analyse economic and other news from various media sources across Europe and share key items with ECB management and staff;
* regularly prepare and present ECB-related and economic news in the daily meetings of the Directorate General;
* analyse media coverage of the ECB’s media activities and write media coverage reports for the ECB’s management.
You will also take part in other tasks of the Internal Communications team, depending on the team’s current needs and your particular skill set. For example, you might:
* write, edit and produce content, including intranet articles;
* contribute to the regular collection and analysis of measurement data;
* produce audiovisual material (e.g. vlogs, infographics, images, presentations);
* help to design, prepare and deliver small and large-scale internal events, liaising with other ECB colleagues.
When performing these tasks, you will work closely with other members of the team. The position offers you an excellent opportunity to work with a diverse, supportive team in a fast-paced environment. It will enable you to deepen your knowledge of a broad range of topics, from monetary policy, macroeconomics and banking supervision to European politics and institutions, and allow you to learn more about the ECB’s activities. You will also gain experience of working with various media monitoring tools and media sources. Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
* a bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, finance, international relations, politics, journalism or another relevant field;
* a solid understanding of macroeconomics gained at some point during your studies;
* a basic understanding of monetary policy, the ECB, and its main tasks and tools;
* strong presentation (public speaking) skills and writing skills, with the ability to make complex concepts easy to understand for the target audience;
* a good working knowledge of the MS Office package;
* an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the .
Desired:
* the ability to read complex texts in one or more of the following languages: French, German, Italian, Spanish;
* an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the ;
* the ability to produce visual content;
* experience with data analytics.
