Do you want to turn scientific ideas into scalable solutions that make a meaningful difference in medical nutrition? In our Innovation Science team within R&D Enteral Nutrition, you will drive process innovation from early feasibility through technology transfer, collaborating across functions and sites to help advance Fresenius Kabi’s medical nutrition portfolio. Your Responsibilities Identify and assess emerging ideas, technologies and research developments in medical nutrition, translating promising opportunities into the innovation pipeline. Design and lead feasibility studies at laboratory and pilot scale, applying Design of Experiments (DoE), data analysis and technical judgement to guide early-stage decisions. Develop and optimize robust, scalable processes for innovative medical nutrition concepts, with a focus on formulation, process feasibility and product quality. Work hands-on with relevant processing technologies, such as high-shear mixing, homogenization, microencapsulation, autoclaving or UHT processes, depending on project needs. Lead innovation projects from concept to delivery, coordinating milestones, stakeholders and cross-functional teams across R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Medical, Intellectual Property and Portfolio Strategy. Collaborate with Intellectual Property colleagues to support the protection of novel products and technologies. Prepare clear technical reports, documentation and transfer materials to enable effective knowledge sharing with development and manufacturing teams. Drive technology transfer activities and ensure assigned laboratory and pilot-plant equipment is maintained, calibrated and operated in line with quality and safety standards. Your Qualifications Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Process or Pharmaceutical Engineering, Nutritional Science or a related discipline; a relevant PhD is highly preferred. At least 6 years of relevant R&D or product development experience in a regulated nutrition, life-science, medical or clinical nutrition, FSMP, pharmaceutical or specialized food environment; candidates with a relevant PhD should bring at least 3 years of relevant experience. Sound expertise in formulation science, process engineering and advanced processing technologies for medical or enteral nutrition products. Good understanding of protein science, product characterization and analytical methods, with familiarity in methods such as rheology, particle size analysis, viscosity analysis, digestion simulation or microscopy considered an advantage. Proven experience in leading innovation or development projects, including feasibility studies, process scale-up and technology transfer in cross-functional settings. Strong analytical, communication and technical writing skills, a proactive problem-solving mindset, and fluency in English and German; experience with MS Office and data analysis tools such as Origin or Minitab is an advantage.
