About this Position
The Sustainable Packaging Manager will play a pivotal role in executing Henkel Adhesive Technologies' sustainability goals by focusing on the implementation of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). This role leads the assessment of the existing packaging portfolio against PPWR requirements, designs and facilitates cross-functional workshops, owns key PPWR-related targets and topics, and drives implementation through structured roadmaps and projects. The position collaborates across multiple functions to ensure regulatory alignment, operational feasibility, and tangible impact in Henkel’s sustainable packaging transformation.
What you´ll do
* Analyze and assess the current packaging portfolio to identify gaps and improvement opportunities in line with Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requirements. Monitor regulatory updates and translate them into actionable packaging implications. Ensure the assessment is inline with legal interpretation
* Organize and lead cross-functional workshops focused on Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) impact, awareness, and strategic planning. Align stakeholders on regulatory interpretations and facilitate collaborative decision-making
* Take direct ownership of defined focus areas within Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) (e.g., recyclability, reuse systems, empty space). Define implementation KPIs, set objectives, and track progress for assigned targets
* Develop actionable roadmaps to ensure compliance with Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and sustainability alignment across packaging formats and business units. Ensure proper integration of packaging innovation, compliance, and cost-efficiency
* Lead or co-lead strategic packaging projects related to Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) identified in the roadmaps. Coordinate technical validation, testing, supplier involvement, and internal approvals
* Work closely with Procurement, Packaging CoE, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Business Units to ensure smooth implementation of sustainable packaging initiatives
What makes you a good fit
* University degree in Packaging Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Regulatory Affairs or a related technical field
* 3–6 years of experience in sustainable packaging, packaging development or regulatory programs
* Expertise in packaging regulations and sustainability with strong knowledge of Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), extended producer responsibility (EPR), recyclability, and emerging trends
* Skilled in project management and cross-functional collaboration with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment
* Strategic, analytical, and self-driven, with effective communication skills and proficiency in key digital tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Miro)
* Fluency in English; other languages are a plus
