About this role
Are you passionate about creating intuitive, high-performance user interfaces? Our Logistics Engineering department is at the heart of the Just Eat Takeaway.com experience, responsible for the entire delivery lifecycle of millions of orders and supporting our vast network of couriers.
The Courier Onboarding team plays a critical role in this mission. Courier Onboarding is the front-door for new applicants around the globe interested in joining JET’s courier network. You will be building the crucial web applications that guide prospective couriers through the onboarding process, ensuring a smooth and engaging first experience.
As a mid-level member of our team, you'll be key in developing, maintaining, and improving our core React applications. You will collaborate closely with designers and backend engineers to translate high-fidelity designs and business requirements into responsive, robust, and accessible user experiences.
These are some of the key ingredients to the role:
* Develop and maintain well-structured, efficient, and reusable UI components and applications using React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript standards.
* Implement complex user interfaces following design specifications and ensuring cross-browser compatibility and optimal performance.
* Collaborate with Product Managers and UX/UI Designers to refine requirements, contribute to technical design, and deliver features that meet business goals.
* Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs developed by our backend teams, ensuring efficient data fetching and state management.
* Write comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests (e.g., using Jest, Testing Library, Cypress) to ensure the quality and reliability of developed features.
* Actively participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback to peers and adhering to team coding standards and best practices.
* Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, focusing on optimizing rendering speed and load times for a global user base.
* Assist in maintaining and improving continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for front-end deployment.
What will you bring to the table?
* Demonstrable experience developing complex single-page applications (SPAs) using React.js.
* Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS/SCSS.
* Solid understanding of core React concepts, including Hooks, component lifecycle, and state management (e.g., Redux, Zustand, or Context API).
* Practical experience with consuming and integrating with RESTful APIs.
* Experience with writing robust tests for front-end applications (unit and integration tests).
* Familiarity with front-end build tools (e.g., Webpack, Vite) and version control systems (Git).
* Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and performance optimization techniques for web applications.
* Ability to work effectively within an agile, cross-functional team environment.
* Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
* A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement.
* Experience with design systems (e.g., Storybook) is a plus.
* Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP) or containerization (Docker) is beneficial.
