YOUR ROLE
You will join our innovative and rapidly growing ClimateTech startup as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and play a vital role in addressing one of humanity's most pressing challenges:
paving the way for a carbon-negative future. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work closely with the rest of our Development Team to ideate, design, and fabricate process skids based on our novel DAC technology. You will collaborate with Process and Chemical Engineers to optimize our processes based on your experience in chemical industry. Through prototyping and iterative design you will design mechanical structures that support large-scale implementation of our DAC chemistry. Finally, you will deliver technical specifications to our partners and suppliers to support manufacturing and installation of our products.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
* Work closely with the rest of the R&D team to define and size optimal components and equipment taking into account mechanical constraints, manufacturability, efficiency and cost.
* Get creative and hands-on to rapidly design, build, and validate proof of concept prototypes and products.
* Lead the design and development of parts for high-volume production, including vacuum chambers and catalytic reactors that must undergo thermal and pressure cycling.
* Perform FEA to ensure mechanical integrity of our product and improve thermal performance
* Design CAD assemblies and maintain BOMs to ensure long-term maintainability and improvability of our products
* Provide in-depth design, specifications and feedback for manufacturing and assembly to ensure that our designs are cost-efficient, robust and capable of high-quality results at scale
* Approach work with open mind and flexibility. You will work in an environment of rapid learning and adjustment
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

* Experience in designing industrial mechanical systems taking into account manufacturability at scale, including simulations and risk analysis
* High-proficiency of CAD software and file management, preferably SOLIDWORKS or AutoCAD
* Experience with reactors and/or chemical plant equipment and processes
* Experience working with industrial suppliers and manufacturing partners
* Strong intrinsic motivation to tackle the climate crisis
WHAT YOU WILL GET
* Work within an early fast-growing ClimateTech startup located in Berlin
* Flat hierarchy and highly motivated team
* English-speaking company
* Self-managed working hours (including partial remote possibility)
* Flexible holiday arrangement
* Regular informal team events
* Equity plan
