Future WiFi systems will support new services and use cases, including integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), immersive extended reality (XR), industrial automation and robotics, e-health and telemedicine, and AI-driven edge computing. The Wireless Communications and Networks department is developing WiFi8 for mission-critical, AI-driven, high-density environments where connection stability is of utmost importance. What you will do
* Design and development of wireless communication systems and protocols for WiFi8
* Analysis of standardization contributions
* Observation of technology trends
* Identification of opportunities for improvement
* Development of technical solutions related to IEEE WiFi8
* Participation in standardization meetings and presentation of proposals in selected IEEE working groups
The following topics are of interest:
* Large frequency bandwidths and radio operation in the 6GHz band and higher
* Optimization of MIMO technologies and cooperative MIMO methods in distributed systems
* Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC)
* Ambient IoT (A-IoT)
* Radio systems with higher mobility
The scientific work offers the possibility of a doctorate.
What you bring to the table
* Bachelors, Masters, or a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical field
* > 2 years of wireless standardization experience, preferable in IEEE WiFi working groups
* Strong background in wireless communication with emphasis on digital signal processing for IEEE WiFi PHY, MAC and procedures
* Excellent analytical understanding and research skills
* Creative thinking and interest in new technologies
* Self-motivated, proactive, you feel competent and confident in international environments
* Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English

The position is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired.
The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
