Join Ranovus as a System Designer Location: Nuremberg, Germany Company: Ranovus – Innovating the Future of Data Center Connectivity Team: System Design Team About Us At Ranovus, we’re powering the next generation of data center infrastructure with cutting-edge fiber-optic communication technologies. With operations in Ottawa (Canada), Nuremberg (Germany), and San Jose (USA), we’re on a mission to deliver high-performance solutions that reduce environmental impact through lower power consumption. What You’ll Do As a System Design Engineer at Ranovus, you will model and analyze complex optical and electrical transmission systems to optimize performance and reliability. This role involves system-level design, simulation, and validation of high-speed interconnect solutions for next-generation data center and networking applications. Key Responsibilities Develop system-level models of optical and electrical transmission systems using MATLAB or similar tools. Perform link budget analysis, signal integrity studies, and evaluate system performance under various conditions. Simulate impairments and noise sources to predict real-world behavior and optimize design parameters. Collaborate with ASIC, photonics, and hardware teams to define system architecture and interface requirements. Analyze trade-offs between power, bandwidth, latency, and cost for different design approaches. Support system validation and characterization, correlating simulation results with lab measurements. Document modeling methodologies, assumptions, and results for internal and external stakeholders. Required Skills Strong proficiency in MATLAB for system modeling and simulation. Solid understanding of optical communication principles, high-speed electrical signaling, and transmission line theory. Knowledge of link budgets, BER analysis, and modulation formats. Familiarity with signal integrity concepts (jitter, crosstalk, insertion loss). Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and communicate technical concepts clearly. Preferred Qualifications Experience with photonic components (lasers, modulators, detectors) and their integration into systems. Exposure to ASIC design flow and high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet). Knowledge of simulation tools beyond MATLAB (e.g., Python, Simulink, ADS). Why Ranovus? Because we don’t just build chips—we build the future. Join a team that values innovation, collaboration, and impact.
