Trainee Officer
As a trainee officer, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the tasks and opportunities of customs. You will be deployed in various fields, including on-site inspections.
Structure of the Training
1. In the first days, you will learn about your colleagues at your main customs office and receive essential information for the next two years.
2. Then begins your six-month introduction course: in Plessow, Leipzig, Rostock, Sigmaringen or Erfurt. There you will get to know about 25 other applicants in a class with the legal foundations of your work.
3. The twelve-month practical part of your training follows. You will work in various offices and get to know the tasks of the customs, e.g. during investigations, controls or in handling cases.
4. Finally, you will complete the six-month final course, where you will deepen the legal foundations once again.
Requirements for the Training
* A Realschulabschluss or a Hauptschulabschluss with a two-year recognized vocational training from the Federal Institute for Vocational Education (at least level 3 of the DQR) is required.
* German citizenship or EU/EWR citizenship or citizenship of another member state of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland is necessary.
* The German Sports Badge in Bronze, Silver or Gold is required. The badge must be available by the 15th May of your entry year.
* A qualification certificate for use at the Customs Office is required.
