We are seeking a scientist with outstanding qualifications in a current field of research in terrestrial or limnic ecology (e.g. biodiversity research, ecosystem research, conservation ecology, chemical, functional or applied ecology). The candidate should have a strong research profile in research focusing on the analysis of patterns and interactions of species in communities and ecosystems leading to a better understanding of ecological processes over different spatial and temporal scales. Ideally, the scientific work combines contemporary methods of experimental analysis of ecological systems with innovative methods of data collection and evaluation. Research on marine ecosystems is excluded.
We are looking for a scientist who strengthens the research and teaching focus ‘Biodiversity in Global Change’ with his/her previous work. Collaborations within the Institute of Biology (), the “Multiscale Clocks” research training group (), the Centre of Interdisciplinary Nanostructure Research and Technology (CINSaT) () or the Kassel Institute for Sustainability () are desired.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the following areas: (1) publications in renowned scientific journals, (2) acquisition of third-party funding, (3) ability to lead a research group.
The successful candidate will cover the entire range of theoretical and practical principles of ecology in teaching, for Bachelor's and teacher training students, as well as in-depth elective modules for Master's students in biology and teacher training, and will be involved in the interdisciplinary Biodiversity in Agricultural Landscapes certificate program ( Independent teaching experience in ecology in undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes is required. The ability to teach in teacher training programmes is also expected. Teaching for Bachelor's and teacher training programmes is in German. The willingness to learn German in a reasonable period of time is required.
