We are a translational research group at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig, in cooperation with Hannover Medical School (MHH), as part of the RESIST Cluster of Excellence.

- A full-time position (38.5 hours per week), initially fixed-term until December 31, 2028, with the possibility of extension, at one of the largest employers in Lower Saxony.

Your Responsibilities
- Analyze high-throughput microbiome and genomic datasets. Perform diversity and ecological analyses. Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines. Apply statistical modeling and machine-learning methods. Integrate and analyze multi-omics datasets. Contribute to a translational, multi-site research project in the field of clinical microanalysis. Work in a laboratory environment at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig, the “City of Lions.”
Your Profile
- Master's degree or PhD in Biostatistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Experience with genomic data (e.g., Whole Genome Sequencing, 16S rRNA sequencing, single-cell RNA sequencing). Strong expertise in exploratory data analysis (EDA) and machine learning. Excellent programming skills (e.g., Python, R) and experience working in Linux and high-performance computing (HPC) environments. Experience with explainable AI methods (e.g., LIME, SHAP). Knowledge of multi-omics data integration. Strong analytical and teamwork skills. Excellent written and spoken English. Interest in translational and international research. Experience in advising innovation and technology-transfer projects, including grant proposal development. Good knowledge of the healthcare market and healthcare industry.
