Your role: shaping safety performance in a safety‑critical manufacturing environment
IMI Bopp & Reuther is part of the international IMI Group and specialises in the development and manufacturing of safety‑critical valve solutions for industrial and power generation applications worldwide.
We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to take responsibility for health, safety and environmental performance at our Mannheim site, and to support the continued development of a strong and sustainable safety culture.
The position
In this role, you will act as the site’s HSE subject matter expert and trusted advisor to the Managing Director and leadership team.
You will ensure that group and sector HSE priorities are translated into clear, effective actions at site level, while maintaining compliance with applicable legislation and driving continuous improvement.
This position combines operational responsibility with a structured, strategic approach, ensuring that risks are identified early, managed proactively, and resolved sustainably.
Key responsibilities
* Translate HSE strategy into practical and effective site-level measures
* Advise and support leadership on risk management, compliance, and performance improvement
* Ensure compliance with German HSE legislation (e.g. ArbSchG, DGUV, BetrSichV, GefStoffV)
* Identify, assess, and escalate risks or non-conformance in a timely manner
* Lead risk assessments, audits, and inspections to ensure effective control measures
* Investigate incidents thoroughly, ensuring root causes are identified and addressed
* Monitor and report HSE performance, providing clear, decision-ready insights
* Support the development of a consistent and sustainable safety culture across the site
* Oversee contractor HSE compliance in line with site and group requirements
Your profile
* Degree in Engineering, Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or similar
* Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (SiFa)
* Proven experience in HSE within a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Strong knowledge of German HSE regulations and experience working with authorities
* Ability to advise, influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
* Structured and solution-oriented approach with a focus on sustainable outcomes
* Fluent German and good English
