We are seeking a strategic and technically adept Field Applications Engineering Director in Munich, Germany to lead our EMEA team of Field Applications Engineers (FAEs). This role is pivotal in driving customer success, enabling design wins, and aligning engineering efforts with business goals. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with product, sales, and marketing teams to deliver innovative solutions and exceptional customer support.
1. Leadership & Strategy Develop and execute strategic plans for the Field Applications Engineering function aligned with business goals. Lead and mentor regional FAE teams, ensuring technical excellence and customer-centric engagement. Collaborate with product lines, marketing, and sales to define and refine product roadmaps based on customer feedback and market trends.
2. Customer Engagement Oversee technical support for key and strategic customers, ensuring timely and effective resolution of complex design challenges. Drive FAEs in delivering compelling product demonstrations, architecture/system solution sell solutions and technical presentations. Foster strong relationships with customer engineering teams and decision-makers.
3. Operational Excellence Establish and maintain communication channels with design & system engineering to address product reliability and performance. Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing coaching and development opportunities. Ensure efficient resource allocation and support for emerging markets and distribution channels.
4. Innovation & Development Drive solution development including reference designs and system-level block diagrams. Capture technical requirements for new product definitions and contribute to whole product deliverables. Promote cross-functional collaboration through virtual competence teams across product lines and applications groups.
Qualifications
5. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
6. 15+ years of experience in applications engineering, including leadership roles.
7. Proven expertise in power electronics, automotive systems (EV/HEV), and semiconductor technologies (Si, SiC, MOSFET, IGBT).
8. Strong understanding of system-level design, simulation, and validation.
9. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
10. Ability to lead distributed teams and manage regional initiatives.
