Ascendis Pharma is looking for a highly driven Associate Scientist (M.Sc.) or Scientist (Ph.D.) to join our Protein Chemistry team. In this role, you will play a key part in the design, synthesis, and characterization of therapeutic protein conjugates, supporting pre-clinical in vitro and in vivo studies.

We are seeking a creative and collaborative scientist with a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving abilities, and a hands-on background in protein chemistry and bioconjugation. A positive, can-do attitude and a passion for innovation are essential.

Your Responsibilities
* Design and optimize synthesis and purification workflows for protein conjugates
* Develop and implement advanced chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques
* Conduct comprehensive characterization of protein conjugates, focusing on release profiles, stability, and biological activity
* Explore and assess innovative technologies to enhance our existing platform capabilities
* Communicate findings effectively within cross-functional project teams
* Prepare detailed scientific documentation, including technical reports and patent example drafts
* Perform in-depth literature reviews to support ongoing research and development
Requirements
* Exceptional Master's degree (Associate Scientist) or doctoral degree (Scientist) in biochemistry or a closely related field
* Strong theoretical foundation and hands-on expertise in protein chemistry and analytical techniques, including SEC, IEC, SDS-PAGE, RP-HPLC, bioconjugation, and TFF
* Demonstrated proficiency in operating Äkta and Agilent chromatography systems
* Solid understanding of protein mass spectrometry
* Proven creativity in developing synthetic strategies for complex protein conjugates
* Collaborative mindset with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research
* Independent, well-organized, and methodical approach to work
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; working proficiency in German is desirable
